Mom’s day is around the corner, and if you’re wondering what she wants, it’s probably peace and quiet…and maybe a baked good to enjoy during her moments of peace and quiet. We’ve rounded up some of our best brunchy treats for moms, or anyone you want to show a little extra love to this weekend. Just remember, doing the dishes its own special gift! Surprise mom with homemade treats, not a kitchen that looks like a minor tornado tore through.
Pssst…we’re still collecting survey responses! If you have a minute, please let us know what you’d like to see more of in your inbox. Thank you!
Coffee Cakes
Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake
This should come with a warning that you might get buttery crumbles all over your bed. It’ll be worth it.
Sweet and cinnamon-y with big banana flavor.
The lime in this takes it over the top! Blackberry and lime is such an underrated combo!
Quick Breads and Muffins
This delicious treat almost belongs up in the coffee cake section above, but since it’s baked in a loaf pan, and served by the slice I guess we’ll keep it here in “breads”.
It’s easy to make and tastes so good with a spread of European butter. We even once made it into a wedding cake.
The banana and hazelnut chocolate pair perfectly in these swirly muffins.
Maybe our new favorite recipe with oranges in it. These poppyseed muffins have the perfect bright citrusy sweetness of fresh squeezed oranges and taste great with orange marmalade.
Like the orange version above, but these poppyseed muffins bring together tangy lemon and sweet raspberries.
Pancakes, Waffles, + Crepes
The Fluffiest Ricotta Pancakes
These have the most decadent, custardy filling and are packed with protein (Shout out to the moms trying to eat seventyhundred grams of protein a day!).
Classic pancakes with a double dose of cinnamon and topped with sauteed apples and cider syrup. As good as anything you’ll find in an overcrowded restaurant.
Double Chocolate Waffles with Strawberries
For the moms who love chocolate, this is the ticket! Serve with extra hot fudge sauce on top!
Light and airy crepes loaded with blueberries and sweetened cream cheese. It feels fancy, but it’s made in the blender. Or, skip the cream cheese and stuff the crepes with ice cream instead.
Classic Fluffy Diner Style Pancakes
Bring the greasy spoon vibes home with these incredibly fluffy panackes. This is my personal favorite pancake recipe, and we make it often!
Eggy Mains
Breakfast Croissant Sandwiches
Pronounce it “cwah—saaun” so it feels extra French. Bonus: These can be made the night before and heated up in the morning!
Another one you can make in advance and just pop in the oven. I mean…your husband can pop it in the oven. You should still be in bed.
Ridiculously easy, but quite delicious. Serve it with a big arugula salad and you’ll feel like you’re in a chic cafe.
Another classic that always delivers and is simple enough for middle and older kids to make!
Boozy (or Not) Bevvies
Ice cream AND champagne for breakfast? What a day!
I grew up drinking this frothy, citrusy drink, and it couldn’t be easier to make. Enjoy it as-is for a family friendly drink, or spike it with vanilla vodka and/or triple sec.
This is my go-to daily drink, but having someone else fix it for me on Mother’s Day wouldn’t be all bad. I also have a hot version if that’s your thing!
The coziest of drinks. The kind of thing you want to enjoy under a mound of blankets with a good book.
Ok, it’s maybe not a breakfast-in-bed situation, but this sangria is perfectly refreshing brunch fare. Or, take it to mom while she lounges on the patio. She’ll love you forever (even though she already does).
Hope you are pampered and enjoy some tasty indulgences this Mother’s Day!
