It feels like we’re in a sprint to the finish of 2025. School fall commitments are wrapping with their year-end events, just as winter sports are getting started.
As your fellow parent/admin/chauffeur in these trenches, we’ve got your back. This week’s meals are quick, satisfying, and varied. They’ll give you the opportunity to still cook/eat at home (rather than order out) but also save some time with opportunities to use shortcuts.

Monday: Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
Even if you don’t prefer “squash-based” recipes, this one will surprise you. It’s a surprisingly comforting blend of sweet earthy caramelized butternut squash, tangy citrus, and a little kick from the garlic chili shrimp. All in, a very warming soup that’s perfect with a little Melba Toast on the side.
